These Jalapeño Popper Baked Turkey Sandwiches are a delicious pairing of two favorites. They combine all the flavors of jalapeño poppers with the ease and simplicity of turkey sliders…all tucked inside deliciously sweet Hawaiian rolls! Perfect for game days or parties!
Perfect for game days or parties, these sandwiches are easy to assemble, great for feeding a crowd, and sure to be a hit!
In fact, I would argue that they’re an essential ingredient in these Cheesy Jalapeño Turkey Sliders. Even though the sandwiches are loaded with plenty of delicious things like turkey and cheese and bacon and jalapeños, it’s the sweet roll packed with extra jalapeño punch that really makes them SO delicious!
what you’ll need for this recipe
Sandwich rolls – This recipe makes 12 mini sliders. I used one package (12 count) of King’s Hawaiian Jalapeño Rolls. You can substitute any variety of sandwich rolls you enjoy.
Cream cheese – I added cream cheese to the recipe to mimic the flavor of jalapeño poppers. I used 4 ounces of plain cream cheese, but you could substitute your favorite flavored variety.
Turkey – I added 1 pound of sliced deli turkey, which pairs well with the other flavors in this recipe. You could also substitute chicken breast or roast beef OR just add more bacon!
Cheese – In addition to the cream cheese I used 6 slices of colby jack cheese. Feel free to substitute cheddar, Monterey Jack, or any type of cheese you like.
Bacon – For the bacon, I used 6 pieces of cooked, crumbled bacon. You could also use whole strips instead of crumbling them.
Jalapeño – I used one large, diced jalapeño in these sliders. Feel free to use additional jalapeños for more heat. They can also be sliced instead of diced.
Topping – To top these sliders I used a combination of melted butter, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder and panko bread crumbs. This is an optional addition, but adds delicious flavor and a bit of crunch to the sandwiches.
how to make jalapeño popper baked turkey sandwiches
Prepare the slider rolls. Separate the rolls and slice them each in half. Alternately, you can keep them connected and slice the entire cluster in half to open them up.
Assemble the sandwiches. Spread each roll with 1 teaspoon of cream cheese, then fill them with turkey, 1/2 slice of cheese, bacon, and chopped jalapeños. Place the prepared sandwiches in a 9×13 inch pan.
Add the toppings. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and seasonings over low heat. Pour the mixture evenly over the sandwiches and top with panko crumbs.
Bake & enjoy. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until sliders are heated through and panko crumbs are golden brown.

Sorry but these missed the mark. I made exactly as the recipe said and no one thought they were good. Sometimes more isn’t better. On the surface everything in this recipe is a favorite of mine but that doesn’t mean they all should be eaten at the same time. I really wanted to love these.

Sometimes more isn’t better. I really wanted to like these but they missed the mark. I followed the recipe exactly and love all the individual ingredients in the recipe but they just didn’t go. Maybe it was too much cumin but I will not be making these again.

I made these a couple of nights ago and we all loved them!
Christy says
I made these tonight for my husband and a friend of ours. I didn’t use the panko or the cumin, and reduced the butter by just basting a little on top. They still turned out great. We loved them and agreed they would be awesome to take to a potluck. Thanks!
Jen says
Are these good once they cool after baking? I want to bring them to a party so they need to travel….
Heather says
Do these need to be covered when baking? I make the sassy tailgate sandwiches several times a year and they have to be covered when baking.

I couldn’t find the jalapeño Hawaiian rolls but I used jalapeño cream cheese and I had Gouda slices on hand. Everything else was as published. They were awesome! Thank you.

I’m going to try these tonight. I’m going to switch it up a little. Maybe use deli chicken and jalapeno cream cheese. Going to top them with butter, parm cheese and garlic. I’ll let you know how they turn out.
