Overnight Sausage Egg Casserole is a delicious addition to any breakfast. It’s simple, flavorful, and easy to prep in advance for stress-free mornings. One of our holiday favorites!

Is there anything better than a delicious egg bake for breakfast? Not only is it easy to make… and packed with all the best breakfast flavors… but I LOVE that you can make it in advance. Which makes it perfect for entertaining!

Because we all know how stressful entertaining can be… especially first thing in the morning. So having the main dish completely prepped by the time you wake up is a definite win!

Of course, I grew up on this Sausage Egg Casserole, so I clearly have a soft spot for it. It was our family’s go-to brunch recipe for weekends, holidays and special occasions… and as an adult, it’s STILL one of my personal favorites!

Nostalgia aside, I can pretty much guarantee your family will love it just as much as I do. Because you really can’t go wrong with eggs + bread + breakfast sausage + cheese. And when you add in the overnight element? It will probably become your go-to breakfast, too!

what you’ll need for this recipe

Sausage – 1 pound of cooked, crumbled sausage adds delicious flavor to this casserole. I used pork sausage, but turkey sausage or chicken sausage would also work.

Eggs – Eggs are a key ingredient in this recipe. I used 10 large.

Bread – Bread adds delicious texture and heartiness to this casserole. I’ve used sandwich bread, sourdough, and even croissants… they all work well!

Milk – 3 1/4 cups of milk keeps this casserole moist. Use whatever kind you have on hand.

Cheese – Every egg bake needs cheese, and cheddar is a great option! Feel free to substitute any kind you like. I used 8 ounces.

Seasonings – Simple seasonings are all you need. Dried mustard, salt & pepper complete the flavor profile and let the sausage and cheddar flavors shine through.

storing & reheating

Leftover casserole can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. To reheat, transfer desired amount to an oven-safe container and cover with foil. Heat at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until hot.
