These Chili Cheese Turkey Sliders are packed with turkey and two kinds of cheese, then smothered in chili, cheese, and green onions. Perfect for game day or a quick & easy {make-ahead} weeknight dinner!
So…..today is an important day around here! And not just because it’s Friday, although that’s important, too. But today is Jorden’s birthday! (Happy Birthday, Jorden!) Today is a day worth celebrating. I won’t bore you again with the story of how we met or my feelings of being duped or the many funny antics that make him who he is. Because when it comes to birthdays, those stories make up such a tiny part of who he is. No, what I’m celebrating today is the Jorden who’s my best friend, the one who’s an amazing dad, the one who works so hard to take care of our family. Here’s hoping that today is the BEST birthday and that the year ahead is even better.
Honestly, I knew he would make a great husband after our first date, when we stayed out until 2 am and he called me the very next day, instead of playing the waiting game. And when we proceeded to spend every day together for the next several weeks….and I suddenly felt like I had known him my whole life….and I knew without a doubt that I could tell him anything and it would all be okay….it became clear that he was the one for me.
And as soon as I introduced him to my family, and I saw how good he was with my nephew, I knew he would make an amazing father. And I was so right. Our girls love and adore him….and for good reason! Because he’s the kind of dad who will play Barbies and coach their soccer team and color and wrestle and watch movies and snuggle with them all day long. They’re so lucky to have him as a dad….and I’m pretty sure they know it.
And when it comes to working hard for our family, no one can deny that Jorden works HARD. Not only during the work week, but at home. If you know anything about our house projects, you know that they’re endless. Between fixing up the inside and cleaning up the outside, our Lemon Tree Dwelling keeps us super busy. And by us, I mean Jorden.
So….to celebrate his birthday, I wanted to make something I new he would love: these Chili Cheese Turkey Sliders! They’re easy to make, with just 5 simple ingredients, and perfect for lunch, dinner, or GAME DAY!!! Which is fitting….since football season just started, and part of Jorden’s birthday weekend will be spent watching the first Packer game of the season.
The inspiration for these sliders? Chili Cheese Dip – one of our game day staples! I just combined those flavors with the baked turkey sandwiches we know and love, and a new favorite was born. Chili Cheese Turkey Sliders! And a big Happy Birthday to Jorden.
