This Stone Fruit Salad combines sweet plums and nectarines with crunchy pecans, blue cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette. It’s an explosion of flavor in every bite…..the perfect end of summer salad!
Do you ever have those times in your life where you feel the need to pause, and take stock, and realize just how lucky you are? I’m not sure if it’s the change in weather, or the fact that the kids are back in school and I have more time to think, or just something that happens from time to time…..but these past few days I can’t help but feel the need to take it all in…..!
Maybe it’s the fact that Jorden’s birthday was yesterday, which always reminds me how lucky I am to have such a fun, caring, compassionate, lovable person to spend my life with. The 13 years I’ve known him have flown by….how does that even happen? Time to pause. Take stock. Be grateful.
Or maybe it’s the fact that Ellia is suddenly acting like a mini teenager. She turned 9 in June…..are we seriously already there?! I’ve found myself wondering these past few days – is this the end? Or the beginning of the end? Is my little girl officially not so little anymore? Time to pause. Take stock. Be grateful (and tread lightly)!
It doesn’t help that Nora is in preschool and Greta is trying on some 2nd grade attitude and Myla is becoming more and more of a “kid” every day…. Yep, it’s feeling like a good time to pause and take it all in and appreciate the moment.
Speaking of appreciating the moment, this salad is a perfect example. Not only is it easy to appreciate, but it takes advantage of the plums and nectarines that are still in season now….before the season passes us by! And when you combine them with pecans and blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette, it makes for a delicious salad that will definitely leave you feeling grateful.

Cathy, I’m feeling the same way. My kids are sprouting up before my very eyes (13 and 12), and I’m in shock and denial! I’m trying to pause more and just enjoy the time I have left before (don’t say it!) they’re off to college. Best to you — I loved this post! And this salad is just full of ingredients I love — that sweet and savory combo is the best!
