Creamy Root Beer Float Dip – a delicious, no-melt twist on the classic! Perfect for dipping graham crackers, vanilla wafers or your cookie of choice!
And just like that, it’s the 4th of July!! Good thing I’m ready for it. And by ready, I don’t mean I’ve actually done anything to prepare. I mean I’m ready for the fun of it! The excitement of it! And most of all, the relaxation of it! The 4th of July is one of the rare holidays I actually just let myself show up to….without worrying about decorating or hosting or gift giving. It’s relaxing in a way that no other holidays are! And I can’t wait!
Of course, I always like to add a little extra food fun to the mix… whether it’s Fireworks Treats or Patriotic French Toast Sticks or Red, White & Blue Sugar Cookie Cups. But this year I’m going a different route completely. This year it’s in the form of Root Beer Float Dip… a classic summer treat! I made it the other day and the kids went crazy for it! It’s thick, creamy, and tastes just like a root beer float….minus the frozen, melty factor. Which makes it ideal for hot summer days (when melting is an issue) or not so hot days (when you don’t really feel like something frozen). So it’s basically the perfect summer dip, no matter what type of weather you’re having!
what you’ll need for this recipe
Cream cheese – Cream cheese forms the base of this dip. I used 8 ounces of plain cream cheese, softened to room temperature.
Cool Whip – I used 1 cup of Cool Whip (whipped topping) to make the dip creamy and fluffy… just like ice cream! Feel free to use store bought or make your own homemade cool whip.
Powdered sugar – To sweeten the dip I used 3/4 cup powdered sugar. You can substitute granulated sugar if needed, just note the dip may be a bit grainy.
Extracts – I used 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract combined with 1 teaspoon of root beer extract to flavor this dip just like a root beer float!
how to make root beer float dip

This looked so awesome. I live cream cheese, root beer and dips! What could be more perfect? I ran out and orchard everything the next day. What a waste of money! This was awful. The cream cheese and root beer do not mesh well together. Cream cheese overwhelms the flavor if the root beer and it was not only so-so, but tasted disgusting. Sad. I thought this sounded so delightful.

LOVE not live cream cheese. PURCHASED not orchard.
