Triple Berry Banana Smoothie Bowls have all the smoothie flavor you love… and they’re thick enough to eat with a spoon! Packed with three types of berries, bananas, shredded coconut, and a touch of honey, they’re the perfect way to start the day!
Let’s talk for a minute about smoothies. Am I the only person in the world who finds them less than satisfying?? I know… it’s an unpopular opinion, to say the least. And it’s not that I don’t enjoy smoothies… I do! It’s just that drinking my breakfast (or snack) doesn’t really do it for me. I need something I can sink my teeth into.
Which is what I LOVE so much about smoothie bowls. They’re just as easy and nutrient-packed as a smoothie… but you can eat them with a spoon! And this Triple Berry Banana Smoothie Bowl is my personal favorite. Loaded with frozen bananas, mixed berries, coconut, pecans, and a touch of honey, it’s both delicious and satisfying.
And… you can switch up the flavors according to your tastes and preferences. This recipe can easily be adjusted to be dairy-free, nut-free, or coconut-free… and you can switch up the fruits for plenty of variety. See my variation suggestions below!
what you’ll need for this recipe
Milk – This recipe uses milk as the liquid, and any type of milk works well! Use almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, cow’s milk, or any milk you enjoy.
Frozen mixed berries – Frozen mixed berries add delicious flavor, color, and nutrients to this recipe. They also help to thicken the smoothie bowl. *Frozen fruit is key for achieving the right consistency.
Frozen banana – Frozen banana adds additional thickness and a creamy texture to this recipe.
Honey – Adding honey gives this smoothie just the right amount of sweetness, and it’s easy to adjust the amount according to your tastes.
Garnishes – Sliced bananas, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans add extra flavor and texture to this smoothie bowl. Feel free to switch up the garnishes as you’d like!
how to make a smoothie bowl
Combine & blend. Combine the milk, frozen fruit, and honey in a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.
Garnish. Transfer to a bowl and garnish with sliced bananas, chopped pecans, and shredded coconut. Enjoy!
Storage Tip
Made too much? Don’t worry! Smoothies and smoothie bowls freeze well! My favorite way to freeze them is by transferring them to ice cube trays and freezing them in small portions. When you’re ready to enjoy them, simply pop the cubes into a blender, add a little liquid, and blend until smooth!
Recipe Variations
- Use any type of milk
- Substitute orange juice or pineapple juice for the milk
- Use any variety of frozen fruit in place of the berries and bananas
- Make it a green smoothie by adding a handful of fresh spinach or kale
- Add Greek yogurt or cottage cheese for extra protein
- Add a scoop of protein powder
- Use maple syrup or monk fruit to sweeten
- Substitute any type of chopped nuts OR omit the nuts

do you really mean 14 cups of pecans or is this a typo error and it’s a quarter cup?
Cathy Trochelman says
Haha – I think it’s safe to say that’s a typo. 1/4 cup it is….I’ll go change it now. Thanks for pointing it out to me!
